School Safety
This is the top of my list, hands down. Every student, every teacher, every person walking into one of our schools deserves to feel safe. We have to make sure that everyone feels taken care of to perform their best, whether that’s taking a test, teaching a lesson, or running a school. I want to make sure our school resource officers feel supported and have the staff they need to do their jobs to the best of their ability. Safety comes in many different forms. Whether that’s physical or mental, we need to support our schools in the best way we possibly can.
Fiscal Responsibility
While budgetary concerns have been at the forefront lately, Rock Hill is experiencing rapid growth. This growth stands to positively impact our financial standing as a school district. It is our duty to make informed decisions in balancing our budget, so that our students, professionals, and facilities have the resources needed for success.
Extra Curricular Activities
I coached football and baseball for five years and Jaci coached cheerleading and soccer. Jaci grew up in the arts including dance and theater education offered through Greenville County Schools. Extracurriculars give kids structure, a reason to show up, and sometimes a path to college they wouldn't have had otherwise. While athletics are baked into who we are as a town, I also think athletics should help lift up our arts programs, not overshadow them. They can go hand in hand and we can work together to continue such a prominent part of our community.
Facilities
It’s no secret that Rock Hill High needs some real love, and it's not the only school that does. I believe in taking care of what we already have, not letting it fall apart while we chase what's shiny and new. Efficient maintenance on the front end saves us a lot of money and headaches later.
Workforce Readiness
Not every kid is going to get a four-year degree, and I think we do students a disservice when we act like that's the only path that counts. I want to see us lean harder into trade programs and build real relationships with local businesses, internships, shadowing, whatever gets our kids real experience before they graduate. When local businesses invest in us and we invest in them, everybody wins.
